General Magic's CFO steps down

  The chief financial officer of General Magic Inc. has resigned, the company announced today.

John Zimmerman, who also served as vice president of finance and administration, has left to pursue other interests. He will be temporarily replaced by CEO Steve Markman.

Robyn Cerutti, formerly a consultant to General Magic, will become controller, overseeing day-to-day operations, and Kevin Surace, formerly a telecommunications consultant, will become vice president and general manager. He will be responsible for developing a business plan for telephony solutions.

General Magic, of Sunnyvale, Calif., is the developer of the Magic Cap communications software and the Tabriz AgentWare.
