Bay exec tapped to become Network Appliance's CFO

  Network Appliance Inc. today snagged a Bay Networks Inc. executive as its new chief financial officer.

Jeffry Allen, who most recently served as vice president of operations at Bay, will become CFO and vice president of finance at Network Appliance, in Mountain View, Calif.

Allen had previously been controller and vice president at Bay and, before that, controller at SynOptics Communications Inc. SynOptics and Wellfleet Communications Inc. merged two years ago to form Bay.

Network Appliance develops and markets network data storage and data access devices that deliver shared file service for Unix and Windows systems and to the World Wide Web.

Separately, Bay Networks announced today that Rouzbeh Yassini has resigned as vice president and general manager of Bay's cable modem division. The company said Yassini would continue as a consultant with Bay.
