3Com integrates Token-Ring clients, Fast Ethernet servers

  3Com Corp. today unveiled its Token-Ring-in-Fast Ethernet system for integrating Token-Ring clients and Fast Ethernet networks, set to ship in the second quarter of next year.

The system, based on ASIC technology that enables wire-speed transmission of Token-Ring frames within Fast Ethernet frames, includes a SuperStack II Switch 2000 Token-Ring and Fast Ethernet modules, switches and network interface cards, 3Com officials said.

The Token-Ring-in-Fast Ethernet module is priced at $1,500.
