Apple appoints CIO for Info Systems and Technology

  Apple Computer Inc. today named Joseph Riera to the new position of chief information officer for Information Systems and Technology.

Riera will be responsible for overseeing Apple's worldwide information systems, including software development, networking, communications and computer center operations.

Riera has been with the Cupertino, Calif., company for 10 years, serving most recently as vice president of Information Systems and Technology. He will report to Fred Anderson, Apple's executive vice president and chief financial officer.
